As a candidate for the Traverse City Commission, he is dedicated to bringing neighbors atogether, managing growth wisely, and ensuring Traverse City thrives for generations to come.
Balanced development in Traverse City requires thoughtful planning that supports growth while preserving the unique character of our neighborhoods. By encouraging responsible investment and respecting the values of long-time residents, we can ensure that new projects enhance rather than disrupt the community. Protecting neighborhood identity while accommodating progress is key to maintaining Traverse City’s appeal for both current and future generations. Through thoughtful zoning and design standards we can manage growth affectively.
Expanding job opportunities outside the tourism sector—such as in technology, light manufacturing, and professional services—can create a more stable, year-round economy. By prioritizing industries that offer higher-paying jobs and long-term stability, Traverse City can build a more resilient economy that benefits residents year-round.
Being only 8 square miles, so many of our challenges are regional and solutions depend on collaboration with our neighbors. It is important we align our strategies around land use, zoning, affordable housing, and environmental protection policies, to ensure cohesive and sustainable growth.
As a Michigan native who grew up in a city celebrated for its parks and recreation, I understand firsthand the value of quality public spaces in shaping a community. Now, as a father of seven, I am deeply motivated to enhance and protect our parks so that my children—and all children in our community—can experience the same vibrant, active childhood that I enjoyed. My experiences fuel my commitment to investing in safe, accessible, and welcoming parks for families today and for generations to come.
